The room I stayed in was immaculate and very well dressed. The facilities were clean and it was such pleasure to stay there. The staff were welcoming and helpful and breakfast was really yummy, would definitely recommend.

We arrived to a couple complaining about their room (£60 with breakfast for 2) so wondered what we were walking into but I can only think they were trying to get something for nothing because the room was lovely. Very clean, hairdryer, trouser press, biscuits with the tea & coffee, shower gels, shampoo, toothbrushes, lovely monogrammed towels and really comfortable bed. There was a bar were Frank served us quickly and efficiently and even left out our pre-paid beers for when we got back. The breakfast room was airy, very comfortable and elegant and the breakfast was really good. I don't think I will visit Stevenage again (especially after getting ripped off by the locaal cab firm - beware if you get a cab after 12 its double time which they didn't tell us when we booked at 10.30pm) which is a shame as I would love to visit this hotel again. Highly recommended 5*

The hotel was very good, very clean. The breakfast and service was very good. However I was put in a house through the back garden, small box room, not worth the £50 night stay. There were very loud banging noises from the other rooms on the evening and very early on the morning, disturbing my sleep. Very off putting to staying again at the hotel if in the Annex.

Needed a cheap last minute hotel and this was there. Slept comfortably and have to say the shower is probably one of the best I've ever showered in. However I woke up in the middle of the night because the room was so hot as the radiator was on full - check the radiator as soon as you get in the room. Also the room was a little cramped and i had to move some lamps and other things so I didn't knock them over - I'm only 5'8 and 65kg so not exactly big anyway

Not good.

No evening meal served .Had to walk in the dark via underpasses to get to Beefeater pub. Not ideal. They said it was near enough to walk,!! Took us 30 mins.The hotel was spotless and decorated well. The room however was so small the bottom of my bed was up against the bathroom door.You had to tip the bed to one side to get in. The bathroom was minute very long and narrow. Not fit for purpose.

Avoid!

The problem started with the way Hotels.com have worded it - a single room I booked, said it had a private bathroom, separate shower and bath, toiletries and hair dryer in the room. When I checked in, the hotel owner told me, "You do know you have a shared bathroom, don't you?", and I said that I did not, and nor did the booking say so. He insisted it did and then took out a printout which was considerably different from mine. His copy said "Shared bathroom". The man went on to accuse me of not looking beyond the price. I asked if there were any rooms with a toilet in them and he said he had a triple room for £110 (my booking was £50). The whole manner was very condescending. When I showed him my version of the booking on the phone, he turned his ire to Hotels.com calling them 'no good' and 'useless'. My room was in a separate 6 room annex and I had to get to it on the first floor walking through the kitchen. The room was tiny. It was clean, the heating was off and the owner again accused someone of having turned it off! The toilet had just a WC, no sink. I understood the true meaning of 'separate shower/bath' when I saw the room next door which had the washing sink, bath tub and the shower in the bath! Very disappointed with Hotels.com - I have asked for a refund due to the misleading description of the room. As for the hotel, I'm never going back there and I suggest you avoid at least the single rooms. You'll get proper rooms with bathrooms at a fiver extra!

How to sum up?!

Went to check into the hotel i booked, and then got directed back down the drive, thru a back garden and into a house on the next street! Paid to stay in a hotel and ended up with a tiny box room in a random house. Do not stay here

INTERESTING STAY

Owner was uninterested as was the rest of the staff,room was too small,run down and overpriced for sharing ablutions, I was at the bottom of the garden which looked liked people lived there during the week judging by the food in the fridge , breakfast was ok,apart from yogurts being out of date and for the fact that I had to walk 100 yards to the main hotel in the rain

Bizarre

A bizarre stay. We were told on arrival that we didn't have an ensuite and that it was a communal bathroom and that the rooms were at the back of the hotel. For one night we thought fine. The room was in a house right at the back, through the car park, through the garden! It was so bizarre, like a house share. Not what I was expecting. And not worth £60.
