"An elegantly appointed fairly formal country house in a beautiful rural setting, not far from a tiny small village. The rooms are comfortable and the hosts provide a great breakfast. Access to and from the property from the A roads was interesting to say the least. Single lane “roads” for the 2 miles either side of the property require a fair degree of both caution and concentration. Some parts will barely allow a car to pass. That said, it is worth the trip. Just do it slowly!"

"Warm welcome and friendly staff, however quite a modest property even for a BnB and at this price point. Small room with very small shower. Fine breakfast but only instant freeze dried coffee, and few options if you don't want a fry up. Immediate area full of litter on streets (like most of Barry). I know this isn't their fault but it's a location point. Overall a fine place to stay but I'm surprised current reviews are quite so high -- afterall, a warm and friendly welcome should be expected...

"Very spacious rooms, a lot of privacy offered, good showers, good Wi fi I specifically want to name Diane or whoever the staff lady was evenings of Thursday and Friday night June 4th and 5th - so so kind and understanding - I needed soya milk and to stay and work online outside check out time and she was very helpful. All staff are exceptionally helpful and kind Great parking capacity, wonderful surroundings"

"Had a great stay, room was good, quiet, clean, excellent view. Shower was hot. The pool was a nice extra and we booked in for an hour with no problems. Food was good, both breakfast and in the restaurant. The grounds were lovely to walk around. Staff very helpful Plenty of parking Definitely worth the price with our blue light discount too - will absolutely book again when in the area"

"The Bar area is a bit sterile looking as is the food area, set out a bit like a service station, Food was OK and reasonably prices as was the Alcoholic drinks Food service stops at 9pm, so if arriving late you'll struggle for food at the hotel Hotel is not very old , so its immaculate Recommended but i would eat elsewhere"

"As soon as I checked in, friendly lovely staff members let me check in a bit early which helped as I had heavy suitcase and I got my room straight. They gave me recommendations for food nearby too which was really helpful as I wasn’t sure what was good local foods. If you want a place to stay in Barry this is it for sure. And one other positive right next to the Barry station within good walking distance."

"We always stay at the Royal Hotel if we are in WSM for the night. In terms of being in a central location it can't be beaten. It's a traditional and spacious hotel. The staff always go above and beyond to assist you. It's a beautiful, old building. We had a twin room and the bathroom was larger than my living room. Wonderful sea views. I miss the view already! Very highly recommended. Haven't tried the food sadly but it looks delicious!"
