"The lobby and public areas were well kept and gave a luxury hotel feel but rooms were dated, smell of people smoking was evident in the hallways even though room were suppose to be non smoking, elevators were super slow and not all were running, washrooms bathtub/shower had only half door so you end up getting water all over the washroom floor, I found the front desk staff and restaurant staff to be generally rude and uninterested in providing a good customer experience. Staff that serviced/cleaned the rooms were great and so were front door staff at the hotel. Based on my experience I wouldn’t stay at the Sofitel again, lots of room for improvement."

"I am waiting my refund on the room, I paid and didn’t get the service, I was told they will approve my cancelation with the OTA, a person with the name of Mahmoud introduce himself as a FO manager but is very unprofessional how they handle the things, not answering the enquires from Expedia and just taking the money from the customers, I heard this about Egypt but in a “five star” hotel I mean, I am waiting the result and an answer, I hope the reservations answer the phone and communicate with front office about this issue and maybe the General Manager train the staff in this kind of matters, Marriott brand doesn’t stand for this all the opposite and reason why some of us choose the brand but with this kind of hotels is difficult to trust and find better places with better customer service, empathy, professionalism and standards"

"Lovely staff that could not have been more helpful. Do not be put off by the area the hotel is in or first appearances, there are a lot of stairs and no lift but the view from the roof bar/restaurant is stunning and needs to be seen at sunset. I was travelling solo and felt very safe in the hotel, the room was cleaned daily and no request was too much trouble. The beds were very comfortable and the showers rooms were very clean and warm. For the amount I paid per night I could not fault it."

"When we arrived, we were honestly a little surprised by how positive the reviews had been. Our first impression wasn’t amazing. We actually asked to change rooms so we could have what we had expected which was a front-facing room with a balcony, as the view looked much nicer. The staff were incredibly accommodating and arranged this for us straight away. However, we quickly discovered that Cairo never really sleeps. The noise from the street carried on throughout the night and we barely slept, so the next morning we asked to move back to our original rooms instead. But again they really didn’t mind and dealt with our request. Recommend you taking the back twin room if you need a quiet room. It’s large and has a decent bathroom. Breakfast was simple but perfectly fine. There was a selection of cheese, sliced meats, bread rolls, fruit, coffee, and juice each morning. Nothing overly fancy, but enough to start the day. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the staff. Every member of the team we dealt with was genuinely warm, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. They were welcoming from the moment we arrived, happy to help with requests, and created such a lovely atmosphere that it completely changed our overall impression of the hotel. The customer service was honestly the best part of the experience and probably the reason so many people leave such positive reviews. We felt so welcome we are definitely going back at some point. Thank you. "

"The location of the hotel is let’s say authentic. For those wishing a more modern experience surrounding the property may not be for you. We enjoyed but we like the barking packs of dogs and all night horn honking. Again this is Cairo in this area as well as old downtown Cairo. Hang on during any taxi ride and drink it in. "
