This is a traditional Japanese Onsen Ryokan with the option of Rotemburo for a fully authentic Onsen experience. The room sport traditional Japanese tatami and shoji coupled with comfortable futon beds that will lull you into some of the sweetest slumbers.
However, those are not the best features of Aihoukan; Eri-san is the hallmark of service excellence. Coming from a tropical country, I have very little experience of maintaining a car in snowy climate. Eri-san took really good care of me and the rental by helping us to clear the snow accumulated on the car without us asking. In addition, I have carelessly left my camera charger and battery at the Ryokan, but Eri-san went over and beyond to mail the charger and battery to my hotel in my next destination.
Kudos to the great service and facilities at Aikouhan; they didn’t just make my holiday, they’ve saved it.
The services is very good. The family is very nice and helpful. I have came last October, and found foods are not so good as before. Anyway, overall is still excellent.
The housekeepers are nice and can communicate with English. While the facilities are getting old, they are still functional and tidy. The room is bigger than the normal one for two people. A note is that Hirayu Onsen is a small onsen town, that does not have a big soueveir street, making us to stay at the ryokan whole night to enjoy the onsen.
Best experience for us during our Japan trip. The place is super clean. The decoration is on point. Staff is extra extra friendly and helpful. We loved everything about this place. Plus on top of that, we came there during the Sakura season so it wasn't crowded at all and we got to use the hot spring all to ourselves. I would definitely come back again if I happen to visit Japan next time.
It is a traditional small onsen hotel which offers a comfortable stay. Great location as it is just next to the bus station. The host is warm hearted and hospitable.
Staff is very helpful and can communicate in English. Room rate is good for value. Only 1min walk to the bus station to Kamikochi. I'll stay in this hotel if I visit here again.
Hotel was a few minutes walk from the bus terminal. Hotel stay was great, staffs was friendly and tried her best to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Attendant was very careful and thoughtful about all queries although she speaks very little English. Air-conditioning was old style but the weather was good so we left the windows open. The outdoor bath was small but comfortable and clean. Food was good too.
