"We didn’t really like anything about the hotel. The staff are friendly but are all very young. Very tired decor and not maintained particularly well. Spa is awful. No shower in our bathroom which is unheard of in this day and age, especially in a heatwave! No mini fridge to keep drinks cool. Small, stuffy room and advised not to keep windows open as the midges will enter! Very, very overpriced. Felt quite ripped off."

"This hotel is the back of beyond and not very pleasant.. restaurant not open for evening meals due to the heat.. no fans in the rooms so broken ones were found but were absolutely filthy .. it appeared that the ground floor of the hotel was let to the local housing team for those in need… cleaning staff were lovely and helpful as were both the front of house team but would not recommend staying here … this should be solely turned over to the local council…"

Very disappointed to find the pool out of order after our long drive, guess we should have rang ahead. Bedroom ok, bed & bedding good. There was an air on unit set up and plugged in but it was dead, there was a fan that was incredibly loud at night. Also most of the light fixtures didn’t seem to work. Shower was ok. "Our stay was truly wonderful from start to finish. The venue itself is absolutely stunning—rich in history and full of character—and the gardens are simply breathtaking. Being able to walk down to the River Usk and wander for miles through the open fields was such a special experience.
