Cecile was lovely and the hostel room and common area were spotless! It had everything you needed - beach towels, AC, access to the kitchen and a pool. The room was small but had everything we needed, including a small fridge. Highly recommended for backpackers or even business travelers. Wifi was strong.

We really enjoyed our two-night stay. Our check-in process was easy, the hotel is clean, safe, and simple, and it's only a 15 minute walk to the beach and a 5-10 minute walk to the best restaurants and stores in town. The pool is small but perfect for dipping into to cool off. The fresh coffee ready every morning and shared kitchen were a bonus.

Perfect place

Perfect place for a couple to stay some days. The place has an unique atmosphere and is perfect situated, a short walk away from everything and at the same time in a quiet place. Best of all is the service from the staff and specially from the owner Cecil. We would love to come back again.

Nice little place that has all it needs. Room 1. Is pretty noisy due to being next to the front that’s which bangs on entry. The security light also switches on which is pretty bright. All in all a good place though.

We stayed in the private room. It was very clean and the A/C worked awesome. The walls are pretty thin so beware of excess noise from local restaurants and sports courts nearby, especially late at night. Staff was very helpful and nice, emails were always answered very quickly. If you're looking for a good place in Tamarindo, I'd recommend it!

This place was awesome. The private outside kitchen and yard was perfect for our needs and the hammock was an added touch. It was within walking distance of the beach, bars, groceries and bank. The owner was fabulous!

On Point!!

My stay was a good one, it was close to everything by foot. I chose this spot to be out of the hustle and bustle of things and it was on point. The gates were always locked so I felt safe at all times. The help was wonderful, and if I needed anything they were on it. I would recommend and stay here again...

Cool place

Cindy was great, very helpfull and full of local information. The place was very clean and the staff very friendly. Definitely worth the price. Very close to town and shops/ restaurants yet away from the noise. I would recommend this place to anyone whos looking for simple, comfort and affordability. The air conditioning unit is really powerful. I'll be back.

A/C worked great, nice and quiet at night away from the main downtown, daily cleaning was appreciated. Appreciate the level of security (key to get into the hotel & in your room & for the safe in the room). No frills, but close and comfortable.

A friend and I stayed at the hotel for about one week. Our first night a scorpion had gotten in our room and that was quite a surprise! However, we did enjoy our stay. Hotel Mahayana was a small and simple space. Our room was cleaned daily, fresh linen & towels were given, and kitchen utilities were available to us during our stay. I like that the location was walking distance to the beach & market, as well as our other points of interest.

Stay in Mahayana

The location is great in the main area of Tamarindo, walking distance to the beach as well. The room was clean and nice, AC was perfect. The only thing for improvement was that the common kitchen was lacking some equipment. Take into your consideration that the pool is much smaller than the pictures, it’s a nice dip when really hot outside.

I liked that it had a private feel and outdoor kitchen. Hammock was a good touch. I had troubles with the lock it was getting stuck and it was was never resolved also the TVs speaker was definitely broken because it was distorting tremendously. On top of that the plastic chair outside just crumbled beneath me. My sister was didn’t feel as though she didn’t have much privacy because her curtains where see through. Other than that it was a good experience.
