"The Teahupo’o surf break is basically directly out front (off-shore at the reef, of course) but water taxis are right at the shore by the front gate of pension so the location could not be better from that POV. It’s a short walk (5 minutes) on a nice beach path from the Teahupo’o photo wave spot and Olympic rings, or you can drive to the pension and park but only if you’ve got a vehicle capable of river-crossing - so that adds to the charm of the place as well. The pension is quite nice, super...

Maison Taina

10/10 Excellent

"We enjoyed our stay and plan to return in the future because Valerie and her husband were extremely understanding due to our delay and the loss of our luggage requiring us to file a lost baggage claim before going to Maison Taina that night!!!!!"

VAI ITI LODGE

10/10 Excellent

"If one place made our stay in Tahiti truly special, it was Va Iti Lodge. The owners' warm hospitality and friendliness made us feel less like visitors and more like friends. We shared stories over breakfast, enjoyed the lovely amenities, and felt completely at home. The best place to stay in Tahiti. We'll definitely be back!"

Temenino Villa

8/10 Good

"Place was very nice. Had a few stairs to climb up to the front door. Parking area was grass and lava rocks which you can park close to the stairs if mobility is a concern. Backyard does have the ocean cove right there. Only provided two large bath towels for a two night stay. I didn't request more towels so I don't know if that would be available. Wash cloths would have been nice. No closets or dressers, but some shelves. I rented a car at the airport because I don't know how easy it would be to get a taxi that far out."

Vanira Lodge

10/10 Excellent

"I stayed in the Kava bungalow which I thought was excellent. That said, the stairs to the loft where the main bed is are small and steep so something to keep in mind if you need to try to make it down to use the bathroom and back up in the dead of night. The grounds and the view are straight out of your favourite travel influencer’s TikTok, so that’s a highlight, for sure. And the food at the restaurant was great. The whole place is up a steep hill so it’s not really walking friendly but if you can afford to stay here you can likely afford a rental car to negate that."

Pension Terehaunui Teahupoo

10/10 Excellent

"The Teahupo’o surf break is basically directly out front (off-shore at the reef, of course) but water taxis are right at the shore by the front gate of pension so the location could not be better from that POV. The pension is quite nice, super new, with excellent wifi, so I’d highly recommend it for sure."

Punatea Village

8/10 Good

"This is a great property if you wish to explore the south side of the island, or if you have your own vehicle. Unfortunately it is NOT 2.5 miles from the airport or the cruise ship port. It is on the opposite side of the island, Depending on traffic, a 90 - 150 minute drive. $115 taxi drive. You can get a 3 day tourist bus pass for 1 franc (a bus ride is 4 francs) but the busses stop running at 4:00 local time. The closest grocery store (outstanding selection of fresh fruit & veggies, meats, and baked goods) or restaurant is 2.5 kilometers from Punatea Village. I would stay there again, but only if I had a rental vehicle."
