"This hotel was better than expected . THE ROOM WAS EXTRAVAGANT HIGH CEILINGS ..
electric blinds , electric bathroom frosted glass for privacy. The toilet had a bedet and had a warmed seat , in room safe..Switches on the wall for sleep where every light turns off at once and the blinds close . THE BREAKFAST BUFFET WAS DELICIOUS . Coffee and esspreso machine 24 hours . The staff at the front desk very helpful and friendly ,(Yawen Lee) english was great.
The MRT train was just a few steps away and was very easy to use . I was able to travel taiwan ,Taipei in a snap , easy transfers . I was even able to travel to Taipei main station and catch the BULLET TRAIN ... The night market was also a few steps away as well . I will for sure be going back in the future. World gym was just down the street.
BEST VACATION EVER !!!!!"
"One of the old grand hotels in Taipei that at one time was the best of the best. Still has that old school charm and well maintained. I really like the old bar with the smoking room and the food options are pretty good. I hear that Marriot recently bought the property so I'm very curious to see what they do with the old girl! Staff is very friendly and always helpful. Very good location to get to the trains and a very nice and walkable area. There is a great park nearby for a good morning workout. The breakfast in the morning is adequate. Nothing to wow you, but good enough to start your morning. Great workspace and overall a great old gem! This was my 4th time staying and I would definitely stay again. I hope Marriot doesn't get rid of the cigar room and destroy the bar! That is a classic Taipei bar that should retain a lot of the uniqueness! Looking forward to see what the future holds! "
"My 3rd time staying in ILLUME. Friendly staff , good service and great location, renovated room and clean, well facilities for family (self serve laundry). Will continue to stay when coming to Taipei again."
"Beautiful large room. Excellent staff in the Horizon Lounge. Great service in Li Bai and the lobby lounge. The international buffet at the Cafe was a bit of a bun fight with the locals, although the food itself was good. "
"The staff and service are great! The location is amazing. Right outside of dongmen station exit 8 which has an elevator for your luggage. Right across from yongkang st and a few stops from major attractions. The hotel is just down the alley behind the post office with the lobby on floor L. The single bed room is a decent size for solo travelers, the shower has good water pressure, and the toilet has a bidet. The hotel has a coin operated washer and dryer with free detergent. The downside is the hotel elevator can be a little slow since there’s only 1 and many floors. If you can, I recommend taking the stairs. The bed isn’t the most comfortable but it does the job. The room is a bit dusty but overall pretty clean. I would stay here again. "
