The Trident at Udaipur has an old hunting lodge of the kings on the premises. Its called the Bara Mahal and is accessible only to hotel guests. The gentleman in the picture has been the caretaker of the lodge for over 60 years - under the raja and now in the pay of the hotel. He opened up this exquisite room for us - all the walls are covered with beautiful Rajasthani miniature paintings picturing the area around Lake Pichola and the local birds and animals.

Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. Beautiful hotel- I couldn’t stop taking photos. The people working there were so kind and helpful. The restaurants were excellent. I especially enjoyed eating outside on the patio overlooking the lake.
