"Our stay at Mama Shelter was just right for us. The room was clean, comfortable, and had great air conditioning, which was especially appreciated when it was 100 degrees outside and we came back tired and hot after our tours. This was our first time in Rome, and we truly enjoyed the city to the fullest. A big plus was the hotel’s location—it’s only about a 15-minute walk from the Vatican, and the train station is just a 4-minute walk away. It is a little far from the city center, but getting there by train was very easy and convenient. The staff was nice, but we did feel that the service could have been more welcoming. We noticed that when we walked in and out of the hotel, they usually didn’t acknowledge us or even say hello unless we greeted them first. Whenever we asked for something, they answered our questions, but we didn’t feel that extra level of care or hospitality. We absolutely loved the rooftop! However, during our first two nights, we were told that we needed a reservation, even though there were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant. We were eventually allowed to sit, but we were a little disappointed and confused by the situation. We also had breakfast included with our stay. Every time we went to breakfast, we felt like we were being questioned at the entrance about whether breakfast was included in our reservation.
