A hidden gem

Was absolutely ecstatic to find this little gem as a surprise for my husbands birthday. As he knows this area very well, it was great to find something he didn’t know was there. From the moment we pulled in from the road, we were in love. The location, presentation, cleanliness, thoughtfulness - all 5 plus extra stars. Very thoughtful touches. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Phil & Wendy are great hosts and the private cruise on the wooden boat was a real highlight. We will definitely be highly recommending this property as well as becoming return visitors.

Boat house perfection

What an amazing place to stay. Everything has been thought of to create absolute perfection. Beautifully decorated, private and comfortable. You feel a part of the private marina and the sound of the water is so relaxing. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed and would come Back to South Australia just to stay here again. Wonderful Stay in Goolwa

Goolwa is such a lovely small town. The River Retreat we have stayed in is located by the river, with a bikeway along the beautiful and tranquil river coast, which is perfect for a stroll, jog or cycling. The Retreat is very cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is very well-equipped, including an oven. Our host is very friendly and helpful in assisting our check-in, as we had difficulty in retrieving our original instruction of the check-in process. Everything is thoughtfully provided here. Goolwa is a convenient place to base in for exploration of the neighbourhood. It is just a 10-minute drive from Middleton, where we have seen a good number of whales in Basham Beach. Port Elliot and Victor Harbor are also just 15-minute drive away. Hindmarsh Island and Murray Mouth are just 10-minute drive across the bridge.

comfort by the river

Nice view to river through the trees, and the pool the other way. We appreciated the Aircond and the pool due to the extreme heat.
