"The Avila Parador was delightful - excellent staff and a central location within walking distance of the restaurants and sights. The one problem is parking - there are comparatively few parking slots at the hotel. When we arrived, we were able to park the car temporarily in the hotel car park (blocking several other cars!) whilst unloading our cases. But I then had to move the car three streets away to find a space on a public road with white lines (which is free parking). There were hardly any spaces available on the ‘white line’ roads. The alternative would be to park slightly nearer the hotel on a ‘blue line’ road but you have to pay at a meter for blue line parking - not cheap! The following morning, I watched (like a hawk!) as guests checked out and moved my car into the hotel car park as soon as a space appeared. We have no hesitation in recommending the delightful Avila Parador but just be ready for the parking challenge! "
"The hotel is ideally located next to the Cuatro Postes viewpoint and within walking distance of the old city. The unit is clean, neat , and well equipped. The hot buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of dishes, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. "
"We stayed for one night and I specifically asked for a double bed and when they saw myself and my wife (two women) arrive they obviously assumed that we were just friends and decided to put us in a room with two single beds. I went to ask how the assignation of rooms works and that I’d asked for a double room with a double bed (and paid extra for) and they told me they had no double rooms left although we were the first to check-in. There were various couples who’d arrived and checked in after us that I’m willing to bet received a double room! Absolutely disrespectful and frustrating. There was no possibility to put the beds together as they just slid apart and one was a different size and had a mattress as hard as a rock whilst the other sank when you lay on it. The cushions on the bed smelled like someone had rubbed their backside on them, and the shower was falling to bits. Wouldn’t stay here again if they paid me and we are so disappointed in the treatment when we’d specified that we wanted a double room with double bed. The advertisement said that the twin rooms were low availability, not the double rooms!!!"
