"I stayed at Hotel Vogar twice during my Iceland trip, once on arrival and again before flying home, mainly because of its convenient location near KEF Airport. My first stay was good overall. We received the bed configuration we had booked, the bed was comfortable, and although the room was missing an electric kettle, reception quickly provided one. The only downside was the shared microwave area, which was quite dirty. Unfortunately, my second stay was disappointing. I booked the same room...

"The family room was perfect for the 4 of us! The hosts were all so helpful and had great senses of humor, we really felt welcome. The breakfast was quaint, the warm bread and fresh fruit delicious. The hotel was fully booked but we didn’t hear our neighbors. It was just a short drive to the airport after a very calm and peaceful stay."

"Hotel located close to the KEF airport but far from downtown. Rooms are comfortable, quiet and simply furnished. Breakfast is so so. Not a place for fine dining."

"My favorite place that we stayed. Loved loved! It was clean, amenities including the hot tub were great, had a small fridge. The location was about 20 mins from the main attractions but the views were worth it. It’s more so on the end near the peninsula but loved loved it. Very clean. It did not have a reception but check in was very easy."

"Don’t stay at this hotel! My husband and I have bed bugs all over us, when we told the staff they said it was bugs from travelling. Funny enough we didn’t have any bites until the hotel! Breakfast food is trash, absolutely horrible! It is a 2 hours walk from Reykjavik! If you can stay somewhere different do yourself a favor and choose a different hotel!"

"Hotel Vellir was a great place for our trip to Iceland. Rooms were very clean and staff were super helpful and friendly! When informed we would be leaving early in the morning, staff offered to make us "to-go" breakfast bags in case we didn't have time to sit down. Location is especially good if you have a rental and plan on exploring the southern coast and city. They helped make our trip amazing and I highly recommend them!"

"We chose this hotel because we could walk to the terminal. Food at the restaurant was good, not exceptional. This is a good basic hotel."

"The customer service of this place is next to none. They provided a code that doesn’t work for one of the doors we had to go through and no one cared to fix it. We were lucky that someone else with a valid code opened the door for us. I reported the problem right away and no one came to fix the issue at all. The contact property messages were a joke since it solved nothing. We were forced to stay in the room the whole time of our stay fearing we won’t be lucky enough the second time we got stuck...

"This was a fun little hotel. The atmosphere was unique and fun. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was great, easy to get to everything by car. We ate at the hotel restaurant a couple times, both time the food was good and the service was excellent. The breakfast was self serve with a nice variety of food. We would stay here again."

"Great place to stay for a couple days. Decent size room with bathroom. No hotel staff on site, self check in, was smooth and easy. The restaurant attached to the hotel was good as well. Great stay."

"What you see in the ad is what you get. It is shared accommodations, but it is clean and the other guests were respectful. The bathrooms/showers were very clean. I will be back for short stays as it is a great low cost option while staying in near Keflavik. Don't expect any communication with staff or operators. It is an automated business without human contact."

"Very strong sulfur smell both in the building and in the immediate surrounding area. Building is very clean and well kept, but do not expect breathtaking views or beautiful scenery. Breakfast is good with a wide selection of foods to choose from. Very quick car ride to the Blue Lagoon which was nice. Also did a brief driving tour of the Reykjanes peninsula upon departure from the hotel which was beautiful."

"Perfect for a basic overnight layover. I'd stay again. The taxi driver didn't know about the free shuttle part though, so we paid full price for the ride. I did message the hotel to give them our information to arrange the shuttle/taxi before the trip started but the hotel said to just call the taxi. So one small hitch, but a good stay overall."
