"Check in and check out very smooth. Requests poor. Went to three floors and ice machines did not work. Asked for ice to be brought to room. Never received. First night of stay asked for blow dryer because not one In room. Had an event and left room after an hour and a half. And no use of a blow dryer. Blow dryer was o. Room when we returned four hours later . To me this is unacceptable . "
"The hot tub was cool (heat didn't work right). Shower was broken. Almost pulled the spout off to get the shower tab to pull up. Mold in the bathroom. Fan in the bathroom didn't work (clogged full of stuff) so the bathroom was humid all the time and the smell couldn't go up the vent. Probably why there was rust around the toilet handle and base. Toilet moved when we sat on it. Needed a new mattress for sure (it was king) and was lumpy. The wire was almost coming through around the rim of the bed.
We paid for an ocean room. The main advantage is the size of the room. The staff was friendly."
Coconut Palms Beach Resort II, an Ascend Collection Hotel
8/10 Good
"Beach view was nice. Funny small balcony. Just glad I could open sliding glass door for beach air and view! Kitchen was fine. Upset there was no ice machine; though a nice staff gave be a half a bag of ice."
"I don't like that I have to do this but it is necessary fornthe next person.. the hotel was a dump. There wasn't enough parking so a stranger had to park in back of you and block you in. If you need to leave, you are screwed. The man who checked us in was the maintenance man and he was the best part of the hotel. His wife usually runs the front desk and she had a medical emergency and had to be transportes to the emegency room. The ownersmanagement guilt tripped the man to stay at work instead of being with his wife. They told him they couldnt come in to replace her and they needed him to run the front desk. I had already paid online and he said that hia computer system was trying to charge me more mo ey to stay there. No where on the webaite did it say that the pool was operatio al, guess what? It was filthy and coveres in algea. Gross. The chairs on the back patio were all broken. The room had a broken faucet and the bathroom was gross. The metal bar on the shower curtain was rusted and falling apart. The AC unit was rusted and being held up by zip ties. Out of 5 stars.. a half of a star rating is what they get. Like I said.. the maintenance man was best part of the hotel. And for what management/ownership did to him.. they should be ashamed of themselves. "
"Nice remodel after the hurricane; the Tiki Bar was never replaced. The rooms are nice and the A/C works well. It seems the refrigerators were scaled down, but again no real issue. The problem with this hotel, even years later, is the simple things they could get right. Not having an icemaker for the entire hotel? No excuse for this - only one of the two elevators working? These were the reasons I stopped staying here a couple years ago, and the fact that these simple things are not addressed speaks to the lax standards of the owners.
A decent place on the beach at a decent cost - too bad, because it could be a great hotel."
