"Staff were great. Restaurant had decent food including free breakfast. Location is excellent for Chinese market and water ferry, just a 1 minute walk. Other sites- 40 minute walk to synagogue and next to it is the Dutch palace. 25 minute walk for popular handwashing laundry- Dhobi Khana. Top bunk in the dorm room was a little too high for me, but slept well. Restaurant did not sell alcohol which is a shame, the hostel has a nice chilled vibe. "

"Overall a fantastic stay. The entry level room (Dukes chamber) was huge and really well appointed. Some minor signs of west and tear but we loved it- very comfortable. The rooftop dining experience included in half board was outstanding. The first night we had a huge selection on the à la carte menu, and on the second night there was a wonderful buffet. Swimming pool was a real bonus. Breakfast was satisfactory, although the poor man making omelettes was consistently overwhelmed and running behind. Staff were all wonderfully kind and friendly. Location second to none for all the sights. "

"Friendly staff and a nice spacious room. An excellent location and the adjoining cafe was excellent with wonderful staff who were most engaging. However the building needed upgrading. Lots of minor things were worn or not working. My room was not cleaned in 4 days. The pool needed sweeping for leaves which I did. Small pool which felt abandoned but was a pleasure. It’s a nice hotel but really needs a lot of small improvements. "
