Another little known monument in the #NationalPark system is Walnut Canyon...ancient cliff dwellings near Flagstaff, AZ.
Walnut Canyon; home of the Hopi Indians who built rooms beneath the ledges of rock. Lowest depth measures approximately 400'. The landscape is beautifully decorated with various ground shrub and Ponderosa Pines.
Awesome hike, Morning sunrise is favorite of this spot. This place is north east of Flagstaff, Arizona. There are two trails of 4.5 miles. One inside hike walks through the living community place of Hopi Indian in those times, they had all means of livelihood, grain storage, community living in those times. They knew importance of migration, peace and harmony. Horizontal stripes on this canyon indicates different community houses.
