The park itself has an interesting history. It is about 6 acres in size, includes the Tomb, a fountain, benches and several history informational markers. There is a sycamore 'Moon Tree' growing in one of the corners. Planted in 1975, from a seed that was carried around the moon on the Apollo 14 mission.
The park was a burial ground from the early 18th century to after the Revolutionary War. In the early 1800's, as the neighborhoods around the became more developed, the land was used more as a park and started to get cleaned up. Now, it's a pleasant way sit and have a break while seeing the sights.
