Haven Hotel

2/10 Terrible

"Very disturbing and dangerous protocol at this hotel. During our first night we had 3 fire alarms go off. 11.40pm 11.50pm and 4.50 am. During the first two no evacuation was carried out, staff were not correctly trained, fire panel was showing as disabled yet staff felt it was still safe. General manager refused to come to the hotel that evening. We kept being told there was no issue and the sensor had been removed ( this is not normal practice) but then another alarm triggered in the morning clearly not same sensor as had been removed. Therefore something was not right. 45 minutes to take a roll call was far too long. Fire brigade were told it was an issue with the panel this could not be proved and they didn’t come. Smoke and ashes were smelt on the second floor - then we found out there had been a fire the week before. The whole experience showed a lack of care, staff more concerned about following their ludicrous protocol - which is not to evacuate when the alarm goes off, also felt like staff were more concerned for their jobs. People did not want to go back in and slept in cars!! View is amazing but for me not worth the above, needs serious overhaul including bathroom and overall facilities but could be a real gem!"

"Property is in very old and damaged condition, you can hear the floor squeaks from everywhere, bar menu very poor, dinner even poorer, breakfast very dried and not fresh. My room wasn’t cleaned at all the, not even the bin emptied or fresh towels. Cleanliness wasn’t good. Everything inside and outside is old and rusty, besides the location this hotel has nothing good. Staff in the leisure centre bit rude"

"Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Pool was much needed in the heatwave. Feel this is a bit of a victim of its own success. It draws a certain clientele and doesn’t feel exclusive and for the price it should do. Pool needed cleaning. Otherwise head and shoulders above all the other Bournemouth hotels. View was of the travelodge carpark"

"A perfectly placed hotel for exploring Bournemouth beaches. The restaurant was nice not huge selection but nice and freshly cooked. Breakfast was a good mix. Staff were fantastic. Especially Holly at front desk- she was so friendly and kind. Gave us tips to get to the best part of a beach nearby saving us loads of time and stress. Helped us get extra pillows for the room. The superior room was really lovely , clean and air conditioned was perfect for heat wave ! Will def stay here again when we return to Bournemouth"

"Outside of hotel very shabby, inside looked a lot nicer. No facilities such as catering and spa etc all had to used at their sister hotel next door. Offered sea view room at additional cost, which we did not require. When we got to our room it had a sea view anyway. Room was a good size and clean and comfortable. Parking on site offered as available on arrival yes parking available at £20 per day, no fee was mentioned in the advert, so would have been nice to know in advance, no reduction for guests staying at hotel…"
