Much to our horror, this hotel was 50kms from Groningen where we were to stay 3 days. The taxi cost us $320 AU. We thought it was in a suburb of Groningen. The owner was lovely and helped us find another hotel in Groningen for 2 days as we wanted to visit art galleries. It is in a lovely town but ...

The hotel is perfectly fine, decent amenities and a very good breakfast. But the staff - especially at reception - were not very friendly and in the public areas they seemed more interested in cleaning than in the convenience of the guests.

Interesting place with a colorful past. It was originally built as German barracks and concerted only a few years ago. We had a huge room, comfortable beds, and it was quiet.
