We’ve stayed here a few times and it has always been excellent. Nice rooms, good breakfast. friendly and efficient staff, lovely outside seating area. Location in York is perfect - nice area and short walk into the centre.

This hotel is just lovely. The building itself is beautiful. It was great to have on-site parking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a tasty dinner on our first night, and our waiter, Rhys, was just wonderful. The breakfast was very good. It is perfectly located. It was less than a 10-minute walk to the Minster. The room was large, with a lovely ensuite. I loved the high ceilings. We would definitely stay here again.

This was one of the finest travel experiences my husband and I ever had to be underground yeah. At first we were disappointed because we thought we were going to be in the underground brick bunker room and we weren't we were just in a plain old underground room but when I talked to the staff about it they upgraded us to the most beautiful room I've ever seen with a huge copper bathtub, a four poster bed the most luxurious comfortable place we've ever stayed. The the food was superb, incredible eggs benedict for breakfast, lovely steaks for dinner and a lovely outdoor garden where you can sit -- even in the rain because they have lovely plastic domes over some of the tables with lights and heaters oh it was wonderful.

Nice hotel. Great ambiance in the lounge, dining room and patio. Room was very hot and the bathroom smelled of stale urine. Carpet in our room old and noted several bugs running across the floor during our stay.

Fabulous location, friendly & helpful staff and beautiful gardens. However the room was extremely hot and very compact although we did book a small double. No air con just a window and desktop fan so slept without the duvet. Very noisy with neighbouring rooms doors opening/closing late at night/early morning definitely could do with addressing this issue as the room practically shook with other rooms door closures. Bed was comfortable and good stock of coffee/tea & toiletries.
