We had a room with a balcony and it was definitely worth the extra for a nice seating area.

We initially felt unsafe here . This was probably not a fair assessment- it was based on how we felt that day . We did leave the hotel to stay somewhere else as I was feeling anxious. Apartment was as advertised, great view of beach / Indian Ocean nearby. Landlord helpful with check-in / check-out. Downside is the door lock is not easy to use and is not overly secure, would be good to have the ability to secutity lock from the inside.

Mossel Bay is interesting in South Africa because it seems to have a good racial mix. At restaurants you have white people serving and black people eating. It is like London. The Bartholemu Dias museum is very good. Bit of history.
The beach was lovely however, we only spent a single night so couldn't explore as much as we'd have liked to
