"This hotel is an experience. It's an isolated location on a mountain side, but the hotel decor is almost a museum and worthy of being a destination in itself. "The Onsen were wonderful. And on the whole, this ryokan felt very nice. However, we would NOT recommend eating there. The dinner was very expensive and very poor quality. The tempura was old and had been cooked 2 or 3 days ago. Each dish was pretty vile. Also there was a family in the room above ours with extremely noisy children and we could hear everything. Other than that, it was a lovely place "

"An hotel in the style of a traditional Ryokan, absolutely everything about Mikawaya was exceptional. The decor, rooms, public onsen, meals and staff were amazing. Although it is a little out of the way and up an incline, there are multiple frequent transport options and even a shuttle bus which can take you back and forth from Gora Station. "Very nice traditional ryokan! Our room had a private Onsen located within it, which was very nice. We had meals served to us in our room which consisted of traditional Japanese meals. Very nice staff. Close to the main shopping street and train station. Beautiful area."

"5 minutes walk from Souzan station, place was quiet with 2 onsens. Onsen are rotated every 12 hours. Kaiseki styled Dinner and breakfast were provided as there is very limited food option in Hakone area and most public transport end at 5pm"

"Staying at Fukuzumiro was a total experience. We were greeted at the door, removed our shoes, and felt as if we’d gone back in time. Our room faced the river, providing a calming sound backdrop.
