We had a pet and my guess is that they gave us a disgusting room for that reason. It looked absolutely nothing like the photos. There were human hairs on the "clean" towels, the grime where the toilet seat attaches was absolutely and unmistakably filthy, the shower was so gross I was concerned it wasn't clean and didn't want to risk foot fungus or the like. The paint was peeling off and the wall was dirty where the trashcan was. As in - it looked like a menstrual pad hit the wall.
We do not believe the bed sheets were clean as we found human hairs and pet hairs all over. The sheets were so rough they itched. The dust on the bed was surprising. The only chair in there was this yellow thing that was bent forward so you couldn't sit in it. We didn't want to anyway because something gross had been smeared across the seat. The room also wreaked of dog food when we stepped inside.
The only reason we stayed is because we were exhausted from a 10 hour drive. We were absolutely appalled by the state of the room. It's as if they slapped a new counter and mirror in the bathroom to try to mask the horrible condition it was in.
Maybe non-pet rooms are better but to be honest, given the fact that this room was not clean is a big red flag that others aren't either.
We didn't complain to the staff. We just wanted to sleep and GTFO of there ASAFP.
The thing we could have avoided was the area. I wish I had looked into the neighborhood. Nothing but rundown businesses other than hotels.
