LOVE Banner Elk, MOTEL can use some work. The property itself is quite lovely, and in a great area. The rooms open to the outside and there are no elevators which can cause issue if you have a ton of luggage or have physical restrictions. The rooms are typical hotel rooms, beds are comfy, AC isn’t great, and hot water is unpredictable. They only clean the room if you stay more than 4 nights so towels and trash pile up. The towels are more like gauze so it takes a few per shower. Breakfast is decent but the nightly front desk staff could use some training on friendliness. We’d stay here again but it’s not a great value for the cost.

Comfortable room; very pleasant & friendly staff. Very nice breakfast bar. Perhaps could use a few bathroom additions. No Kleenex tissues; only 1 washcloth for 2 adults. It would be nice to have had a full set for each person(towel, hand towel &washcloth) We enjoyed our stay.

It was exactly as described. Cleaned room, comfortable bed and pillows. The property in general is outdated but cozy. It is centrally located. We visited GFM and after a whole day hiking, we were happy it was just what we needed.

Convenient to Beech Mountain and town area with dining options. Room was clean and comfortable. Lobby is cozy with a fire place. Breakfast area is large. We had a good stay!

The outside of the property was beautifully landscaped. I loved the way the lobby was decorated with Scottish decor. There was a lot of food to choose from for breakfast and the dining room was large. The hotel room was clean and comfortable.

Hotel was nice and comfortable. Clean. Breakfast had hot food and tasty. Very nice and friendly staff. 1 night woke up at 1:30 am from loud music and girls laughing and talking loud. Called front desk and they took care of issue right away. Would come back again for sure.

This was our first time traveling with pets and this property was solid. We had easy access to their area out back for them to go potty. The included breakfast was as good as you’ll get for included breakfast— sausage and biscuits were solid. Very convenient to Sugar Mountain and also Beech Mountain. The rooms are accessed from the outside and that area requires you to be cautious so you don’t slip. Overall, exactly what we needed.

This property had a very comfortable and western theme to it I really enjoyed. It was the cleanest hotel I have stayed in for years! I was really impressed not only with my room but with the whole property cleanliness! The breakfast was very good too! The people were great! I will stay there every time I visit Sugar Mountain and highly recommend it to everyone!

My experience
Hotel is super located and staff is amazing all of them that took care of me in reception super helpful and friendly the even let our kids play in the lobby on a cold day for a while in a Living room they had at front desk. Room super clean and great parking space. Room could be remodel completely that the only negative side there are too old with wear and tear.

This hotel was super convenient to Sugar Mountain Ski resort and restaurants in the area. The staff was friendly and beds were comfortable. Definitely will stay at this hotel again.

Amazing location- close to Beech and Sugar Mountain. Staff was friendly and helpful, recommending several places to eat that ended up being amazing. Banner Elk is a cute little town with a good amount of things to do all things considered. The outside looks sort of run down, but the lobby was very welcoming and well kept. The room was clean and perfect for the weekend trip. The breakfast was standard for continental breakfast. The hotel was perfect for what we needed it for and we’d definitely stay there again if we made another trip up to the mountains.
