"Staff was friendly and eager to help. Area was slummy but luckily the hotel has a gated area for parking. Building is old and needs updating badly, but staff tried to make it as welcoming as possible. Walls and ceiling in the rooms were gross and bathrooms are in bad shape. Worst part was no hot water. Best part is that beds were clean."

"It was exactly as it was listed. Thank goodness for the fan in the room, otherwise no AC was rough. Great area to walk around and explore local stores and sodas. The owner was so helpful and nice! The shared shower was clean, wish there were more places to hang your things though. Requesting bfast was odd bc you had to go find her, I felt weird getting into her person home space. One night she locked the gate on my partner as he was out exploring the town late at night, thought that was odd,...

"Problems are too numerous to mention so will provide the highlights. The good: Location - Onsite and the access road to the lodge are prime birding and butterfly and iguana areas. It's wonderful! Just ~10 minutes away from great local Sodas for good food. AC works, which is important in the oppressive heat this time of year. There is onsite food if you're desperate not to drive elsewhere. Disappointing: Per Expedia description, Authentic Costa Rican food: false. It's a pizza/pasta...

"We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at La Vida Mountain Resort and Spa. We particularly enjoyed the evenings watching spectacular thunderstorms flashing in distant skies over other valleys while there was not a drop of rain where we were. The food was consistently very good and the staff always friendly and helpful. We would definitely return."

"Wonderful place and lovely host. Their bioluminescence tour with Luis was amazing! Bed is comfortable. Be aware that there is no AC and it is 80 degrees at night. They have a great set up, fans pointed at the beds. Highly recommend this proprty!"

"We booked all 3 pods for a 1 night stay on the way back to the airport after touring Costa Rica and all were excellent, privately located with an outdoor kitchen, toilet, shower, balcony and jacuzzi. Although quite remote, they do offer a takeaway delivery service from a local restaurant, and the town is approx 15 minutes away. Important to note that the transparent pod is down a steep windy narrow path with lots of uneven steps, which is quite difficult to walk up and down and a real challenge...
