Hi Carolyn. Thanks for your review. This will give me a chance to give you and other customers of Expedia some clarification on how booking works. You booked the room that you chose on Expedia. Expedia always shows you the least expensive rooms available first which was the queen bed in the upper cottage. Neither me nor my staff had anything to do with your room selection. Given that you anticipated a king bed and were put in the room you selected it appears we got started on the wrong foot. We could not upgrade you because the inn was completely full. I often find when our guests are disappointed upon arrival and we cannot solve their initial problem, they go and seek out any imperfection in our property and highlight it as part of their stay. Even though you selected the room, we offered you a full refund because we don't like our guests to go away unhappy, but it is clear we couldn't resolve your problems. Safe travels in the future.

Hi! Thanks for your review. Looks like we weren't a good fit for you, and I'm sorry for that. To be fair, most downtown inns and B&Bs in Charleston, Beaufort and Savannah don't have their own parking as they were private homes before being converted to commercial properties. We have on street parking right beside the inn on Newcastle and the Marina Parking lot directly across the street. I'm sorry you had to carry your bags across the street. Since you didn't list your room I cannot speak to your critique, but I can assure you nothing about our $1 million plus renovation in 2015 was DIY. It also seems that you must be a very light sleeper which we probably could have accommodated with some pretravel communication about room selection. Beaufort is a very small town with very little road noise. However, given that we are a 252 year old mansion, we provide sound machines for sleeping in all the rooms. Safe travels in the future!

We have just hired some new summer staff and we have some more training to do! Sorry for your disappointment regarding the back patio. We are working on that area, but most of our guest spend 99% of their time on the front porches overlooking the water. We hope to see you again!

Haha! Jill while I appreciate your opinion, as the one who wrote all the checks when we renovated the Anchorage, I can assure nothing was cheap including the furniture. Maybe you just don't like the style we chose? My wife and a decorator from Manhattan were in charge of all the interior design. I hope you received your complimentary glass of prosecco on arrival, and your turndown service of chocolate chip cookies & lemon water each evening. My sincere apologies for any slight that was given by our staff. They work very hard and are usually one of the many bright spots of a stay in our inn. Obviously we are not a good fit for your taste, but I wish you happy and safe travels in the future!
