"A wonderful — and very beautiful — boutique hotel with kind and very efficient staff. They spoke English expertly and were eager to help in any way needed. The breakfasts provided were delicious! The hotel is a short walk to the major tourist and shopping sites. I would definitely stay here again on future visits to Oaxaca!"

"We spent a week here and loved the experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We also took some of the cooking classes which were excellent. It's an easy walk to the main plazas and there are a number of excellent restaurants and coffee shops nearby. It's a little oasis of quiet and comfort in a vibrant and fascinating city. The self-service honor bar is also a really nice amenity and the breakfasts were wonderful. "

"Gerardo was amazing! The house is absolutely stunning. Everything was top notch and very comfortable. The location was incredible for walking around the city. There are four rooftop bars less than a block away."

"Staff was very helpful and nice. Accommodations were made to have luggage left before our check-in was available & it helped a lot. The hotel is very close to the 20 de Noviembre food market, and the Zocalo (5 mins). I recommend upgrading to a room with AC, as even during Sep/ Oct, it gets hot. "
"This was our fourth visit to Oaxaca, but our first time staying at Casa Mayahuel since it’s a newer property—and what a wonderful discovery it was! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for.
I have some back issues and we were originally placed on the second floor. When Fanny noticed I was struggling a bit with the stairs, she immediately offered us a main-floor room and personally helped with the move. That kind of thoughtfulness set the tone for our entire stay. Both Fanny and Katya were absolutely outstanding—professional, warm, and genuinely kind. Their excellent English made things easier for us, though we appreciated their patience as we tried to speak as much Spanish as possible.
Jose, who took care of breakfast on the terrace each morning, was equally delightful. Breakfasts were healthy, hearty and tasty. and we found ourselves looking forward to starting our day with Jose’s cheerful smile and friendly conversation.
Though we didn’t interact with housekeeping often, we always returned to a spotless, well-kept room, and the staff never missed the chance to greet us warmly in passing. The pride in this property is evident everywhere. We were fortunate to meet the owner a couple of times and enjoyed conversations about Casa Mayahuel, his wonderful team, and the city itself. His affection for the hotel and his staff shines through.
And finally—the beds! North American–style, with excellent mattresses and high-quality linens. My back loved it!"
