UAB Med. Center Inn

Internet did not work; Staff didn't know how to hook up properly; staff didn't put energy into finding a solution to the problem; This hotel is in a great location, but that's all. I rate it a 2/5. The staff were very kind and nice, but the hotel isn't in the best shape. I felt like I was staying in a shabby Motel 6.

Medical Center Inn - UAB, Downtown, Birmingham, AL

I've stayed at Medical Center Inn several times in the past and have been very pleased each visit. The rooms are clean and comfortable for an overnight stay after a night out on the town with friends. I have found that the rooms on the back side of the hotel beside the UAB soccer field are quieter than the ones facing the interstate and University Blvd. Overall, the hotel is nice and comfy and the staff has always been friendly and helpful during my stay. I would recommend Medical Center Inn to others.

Hotel near UAB

Very convenient to UAB and several good restaurants. It's not a terribly nice hotel, but when visiting the medical center or downtown doctors this is close and relatively clean.

Not a place you would want to be

This place was below average. If you just wanna place to spend the night and dont mind the smell, then I would recommend it as it is closer to UAB. However, the rooms are stale, have this smell of not being used in a long time, the carpets stink and the beds r OK except for the sheets that have this weird odor. This place seems to be in bad shape. There is NO breakfast (which was a surprise as other Best Western hotels do have breakfast) and NO airport shuttle. There is a Waffle House attached to the hotel !!! The staff are apathetic and dont care much attitude. The only good thing is they have a shuttle to the medical center. If you need a hotel close to downtown Birmingham or UAB, you will be better off choosing other hotels that are a little more expensive but offer a airport shuttle and better rooms to spend the night. You can save yourself of having an unpleasant night sleeping at this hotel. This place is NO comparison to other Best Western hotels and I think the parent company should do something about continuing to run this under their brand name.

Adequate personified

Hotel was worn around the edges but it was adequate for an overnight stay. Recommend staying on side away from Interstate. First room was smoky (although non smoking) but it was changed. Room was stuffy but okay.

Would probably stay again if I needed to stay in that area.

The hotel was older, but seemed to be remodeled at some point. Nice and clean. A little loud at night, but it was near the interstate and down town. I needed to be close to UAB and it was within walking distance. Good price.

Return trip most likely

During my husband's recent visit to Birmingham to have tests done and see a doctor, we opted to stay here. We were very please with the shuttle service. We are not familiar at all with the city and the shuttle got us where we needed to be, on time , and with a big smile on his face. The staff at this hotel are all extremely friendly and willing to help you any way they can. If we have to go back to Birmingham this will be our first choice..

would pay more to stay elsewhere

The outside of the hotel was old, but the room was newly renovated. It is right next to a waffle house that has security at night. We did not hear anything from the other rooms, but you could hear everything outside. There was noise all throughout the night. It was like sleeping in a tent on a noisy street. The staff was nice and it was clean enough. We will pay the extra money next time and stay at a hotel we can feel comfortable in.
