"We had a wonderful experience at the black rock lodge, the staff is amazing and you can feel how passionate they are about their work. The Tikal visit is a must. We had an amazing day on site with our guide Noel, we learnt so much about Mayan history and jungle fauna. We did also the hike to the summit and the night walk with the guide. Both great. "The hotel was pretty modern and new. The double suite was very large and beautiful. It was a pretty quiet, family business and the staff was so nice and accommodating. It felt like staying with family. The food was delicious as well. The area is pretty isolated, but a short cab ride can take you to town for groceries and restaurants. Super refreshing and pretty pool, and the beds were SO comfortable. "

"Wifi was spotty. Husband was having a tough time working. Movies kept pausing and buffering, so that made it difficult to see anything all the way through! Food was excellent! Staff was friendly and accommodating to the best of their ability. My last stay was 10 years ago, Aug 2016! We noticed lots of upgrades to the property. "When we arrived we were met by Leo who was our contact for the entire stay. He was our bartender, waiter, and tour guide. Leo made our vacation memorable, he went above and beyond. "This is such a beautiful property that really immerses you in the nature of San Ignacio. Rose cooked fresh breakfast everyday that was absolutely delicious, and her and her husband were super kind. I also rented a car from Rod, who was also super nice, so I had such a smooth experience getting from place to place. "The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was great. The property's jungle setting and landscaping made me feel like I was in a jungle. And while not a nightly occurrence, having howler monkeys howling the first evening really set the tone to remind me I wasn't in California. A special callout to the staff at Fiona's restaurant, the food was great, but talking with the staff there was super fun. I would recommend Maya Mountain Lodge to anyone and everyone."
