"We’ve stayed at the WHITTEN many times at this new place and the one near the interstate.
We have always been completely satisfied with everything they do.
We plan to stay with them every time we’re in Abilene and need a room."
"The place was completely disgusting. There was mold growing on the furniture in room. All the furniture looked to have been wet for an extended amount of time. The room stunk horribly. Bathtub was rusted with paint peeling from tub. Carpet extremely dirty. I'm fairly certain that I am done booking with Expedia "
"I wanted to like this place, but it fell short in a few key areas. The room was clean overall, but the floor felt sticky, which immediately threw things off. There was also about a 2-inch soft spot or hole in the floor that noticeably sank when you stepped on it, which was concerning.
The elevator looked like it had seen better days too. One side of the door was normal, while the other looked like exposed glue or plaster, like it had lost its backing at some point.
The biggest disappointment was the amenities. I specifically booked this hotel for the indoor pool and hot tub, and neither were available during my entire stay. That really should be clearly stated on booking sites. If those amenities matter to you, I’d definitely recommend calling ahead to confirm they’re actually open.
On the positive side, the staff were friendly, helpful, and very apologetic about the issues, which I appreciated.
Breakfast, unfortunately, didn’t make up for anything. The eggs were dried out from sitting too long, and by Monday morning there wasn’t even any bacon left to be put out.
Between the closed amenities, underwhelming breakfast, and the condition of the room, it didn’t feel worth the ~$140 per night. I wouldn’t stay here again at that price."
"The lobby smelled of sewer. The room was well air conditioned but musty. I had to remove a very large water roach that was dying, but not there yet. The bathroom was fairly clean and the towels seemed to have been washed. This was the last option I had for the night other than sleeping in my car. Next time, I’d sleep in the car. The front desk person was very polite."
"This hotel is absolutely overpriced and we will not be staying again. The carpet was filthy in the elevator and hallways. Dated artwork, doors peeling and very dated. "
"Very misleading online... not in the greatest of locations which can't be helped. But new carpet was being installed so no breakfast, had to work around the rolls of carpet and supplies to get to our room, and no water in the pool. When asked how long the renovation would take, was told they weren't renovating, just putting down new carpet. Meanwhile the building was extremely rundown and needed paint and new windows. Rooms were ok but bathroom was horrendous! The toilet rocked and the seat was crooked! Shower was awful... barely had any stream. Overall, a complete renovation is very much needed. The place just wasn't very inviting."
