"Couldn't believe the bar and restaurant closed so early on a Saturday night. There are a lot of other places to go (including one right across the street), but when you stay in an expensive hotel you prefer to get a night cap or a night snack after a concert right in the safety of your hotel Also: when you get the keys and you're going up to your room, if the key doesn't work in the elevator, get out and go back to the front desk. Another rider used their key, so I could also push my floor, but when I got to my room, neither key worked. So I had to schlep back downstairs (this was after walking with heavy bags from Back Bay Station) and the front desk folk admitted they screwed up and gave me a new room (was it nicer than my original? No idea since I couldn't get in) and new keys, which this time worked. But, to balance things out, the front desk person did give me a free bottle of water after I said I had just walked from Back Bay Station (because my wife looked it up and it said the hotel was only 1.4 miles away from the station; it felt a helluva lot longer than 1.4 miles). And it was one of those reusable metal bottles. So that was nice."

"The bathroom lights didn’t work. When informed, the staff were not surprised, suggested I take the key card back outside to reactivate the room. All other lights worked as well as tv. And, having gotten ready for the shower it wasn’t a great time to go back into the public corridor. As the staff were familiar with this problem, I asked them to tell management that readily functioning bathroom lighting is basic, shouldn’t have to be worked for. They were dismissive of this. They have an elevator system that only has buttons at the lobbies, not inside elev cab. Last night there was a confusion of people trying to select their floors, staff had to come and reset the system. Again, an elevator is basic. And, we were charged $40 for wifi and the gym. We had no interest in the gym, being in town to visit family. This cost wasn’t included in the price shown online at booking. I don’t recall another hotel experience when I’ve been asked to pay for WiFi. This ‘tax’ needs further consideration by management. And, $35 per person for breakfast was overpriced. The parking garage was very remote from the hotel itself. We could not see a way to access the hotel from the garage underground. If it had been raining we would have been rained on for that 5 minute walk. That said, the property is pretty, clean, thoughtful, well designed. The bed was comfortable, pillows fluffy, shower hot and good pressure, nice toiletries. I hope the hotel can iron out these annoyances (some expensive)."

"While this hotel is old, it has maintained its standards quite well. Love the staff, they are so helpful. Because the hotel is old, sometimes things in the room need replacement. It seems to be easier to take something from a nearby room rather than actually fix it. Consequently, my room this time was missing the luggage rack and tissues. No biggy and I didn’t raise the issue. I’ve been on the receiving end of the quick resolve, so only fair. The beds are amazingly comfortable."

"Overall great stay. Chlorine level very high and the lighting in pool was dull. Room smelled strongly of cleaning products. Parking was a bit of a hassle but for staying this close to Boston it was the best deal we could find"

"It’s in a very convenient location and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. It sits above the mass pike so the traffic noise is fairly loud. Next time we will request a room on a higher floor (we were on the fifth floor)"
