No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will get your Airai holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a pleasure if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between airlines, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, knives, fuel and fireworks. Sports equipment like ski poles, and objects that could harm passengers, such as pepper spray and firearms, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your top priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Pick a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and don't forget to take a jacket in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
