If you're not prepared, airports and flying can be daunting. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these helpful hints and enjoy a comfortable start to your getaway in Baru. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you bring the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, find room in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any daily medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to be as comfortable as you can. Layer up in natural-fibre clothing and remember to pack a sweater in case it gets cool in the cabin. Always go with roomy, flat shoes as your feet may swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy hiking boots in your checked luggage.
- A serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this developing. Wearing a good-quality pair of compression socks or tights also helps reduce the risk.
