Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organised. We've put together a list of essential travel tips that will get your Bastad escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack your passport, official ID, bank cards and daily medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a laptop filled with your favourite shows are always good options. If you hope to take a short snooze, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, make room for a few toiletry items so you'll arrive feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes knives, scissors, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like ski poles, and objects that could harm other people, such as pepper spray and firearms, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your aircraft are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and remember to bring a cardigan as it can get chilly in the cabin. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are also a wise idea.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long distances is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To prevent this from happening, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression socks and tights are another great idea to help minimize this risk.
