We've pulled together all the info you need to make your journey a pleasant experience. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be cruising through airport security and having a ball in Bastogne in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be easy if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare set of clothes and a good novel. Next, find room in your bag for your phone and charger, medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and go for shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to take on and off.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
