No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Benalmádena holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be easy if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Lastly, don't forget to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes knives, scissors, fireworks and fuel. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and objects that could harm passengers, such as firearms and ammunition, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and remember to take a sweater as the temperature can drop inside the cabin during long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are always a good idea too.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking up and down the aisle and doing foot and leg exercises in your seat helps to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks or tights may also help.
