Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Black Rock escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, pack your passport, official ID, cash and vital medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a phone filled with your favourite movies are some terrific options. If you hope to catch up on some sleep, a quality neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll touchdown looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, pocket knives, aerosol cans and flares. Sporting equipment like baseball bats, and items that could harm passengers, such as swords and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your top priority when choosing what to wear on your flight. Loose, breathable clothing is a sensible option, as are enclosed shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
