Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Dassa-Zoumé escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a stress-free flight experience is to pack in advance. Start with the essentials: passport, boarding pass, bank cards and any vital medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you entertained, like some electronic gadgets or a thrilling book. It's also smart to bring your chargers, a quality neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. And of course, be sure to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, lip balm and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in temperature by dressing in layers, and opt for flat, closed-toe shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
