We've pulled together all the info you need to make your journey as enjoyable as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be cruising through airport security and having a blast in Franschhoek before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a hassle-free flight experience is to pack in advance. First up, the essentials: passport, boarding pass, credit cards and any vital medications. Next, take on board items that'll help keep you entertained, like your laptop or a good read. You'll also want to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs. Finally, be sure to pop in toiletry items like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a spare set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Choose easy-to-remove footwear, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to bring a sweater in case you get cold in the cabin.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To reduce your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks and keep your legs and feet moving.
