No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Gemas holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a comfortable experience if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean pair of socks and a good novel. Next, leave space in your bag for your phone and charger, any daily medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and don't forget to bring a cardigan as it tends to get cool in the cabin during long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are always a good idea too.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-haul flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, make the most of every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression socks and tights are also a great idea to help reduce this risk.
