Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well prepared. We've made a list of handy tips that will get your Isla del Sol escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a pleasure if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, your medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and matches, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The best way to ensure a comfortable flight often lies in your clothing choices. Prepare yourself for varying temperatures by bringing layers. That way you'll stay nice and warm if the cabin begins to cool down. Shoes like high heels and sandals are best left for other occasions. Instead, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will thank you for it.
- Most travellers are aware of DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There's lots you can do to mitigate your risk. Don a pair of compression socks or tights, drink plenty of water and remember to keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or try out some simple stretches in your seat.
