We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight an enjoyable experience. Follow our tips and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and exploring Koumac before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having an amazing travel experience is to pack ahead. Start with the essentials: passport, boarding pass, credit cards and any vital medications. Next, take on board items that'll help pass the time, like your laptop or a thrilling novel. It's also a wise idea to pack your chargers, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earphones. Finally, don't forget to pop in toiletries like a toothbrush, lip balm and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and poisons, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer your clothing and choose shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to take on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
