We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey a stress-free experience. Follow our tips and you'll be cruising through the airport and having a ball in Kyoto in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a great experience if you've got all the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good read. Next, find a spot in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by layering up, and wear closed-toe, flat footwear like sneakers.
- Most of us have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your lower limbs often.
