We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight a pleasant experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be zooming through airport security and having a ball in Lecce in no time at all. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you take the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare change of clothes and a magazine or two. Next, find room in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, be sure to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) hiding in one of the compartments of your hand luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable substances, such as aerosol cans and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Pick slip-on footwear, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and don't forget to take a pullover in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Most travellers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To reduce your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks and keep your feet and legs moving.
