Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Mahajanga could be as easy as pie or it could drag on forever. We've put together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next great escape on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a pleasure if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a fresh set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any vital medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in one of the zippers of your hand luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable substances, such as fuel and fireworks, and gels and liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Wear layers and pick shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to take on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
