- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you've got all the right stuff. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh change of clothes and something to read. Next, find a spot in your bag for your phone and charger, any medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) hiding in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include explosive or flammable products, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your highest priority when picking what to wear on board. Consider your choice of footwear carefully too, as swelling of the feet and ankles are a common occurrence. Slightly roomy, flat shoes work well.
- A condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity. Doing regular foot and leg exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this occurring. Wearing a good pair of compression socks or tights may also help.
