Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Opotiki holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a comfortable experience if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll want some toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare change of clothes and a good book. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. Lastly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and poisons, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and opt for shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
