No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy tips that will help get your Otaki holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First things first, put in your passport, important documents, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a phone crammed with your favourite shows are always good options. If you hope to catch forty winks, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll step off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and strong acids, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Choose a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to bring a jacket in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
