If you’re poorly prepared, air travel can be testing. But don’t hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy tips and enjoy a hassle-free start to your getaway in Redmond. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you’ll want a few basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, any medications and maybe a neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) won’t be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to be as comfortable as you can. Don layers of natural-fibre clothing and don’t forget to pack a jacket in case you get cold. Opt for a pair of flat, slightly roomy shoes as your feet may swell a little during the journey. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked baggage.
- Unfortunately, a risk of flying long-haul is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help reduce this risk.
