Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Savuti holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having a pain-free travel experience is to pack ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, official ID, credit cards and vital medications. Next, take on board items that'll help keep you entertained, like your laptop or a thrilling book. You'll also want to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. Finally, don't forget to toss in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a clean set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, pocket knives, fireworks and fuel. Sports equipment like ski poles, and objects that could harm other people, such as firearms and swords, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to take a sweater in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Make a point of walking around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
